Underworld Collection goes on display in Beijing
As part of my stay at the Red Gate artist residency , I had the opportunity to present, at the Red Gate gallery located at 798 Art Zone in Beijing (China), the photographic series Underworld and its perfume.
Inspired by Plato's Allegory of the Cave, this series is my take on this ancient text that tells the story of a group of people who have never ventured outside the cave where they live. They are, for the most part, firmly convinced that the reflections they see on the walls of their cave correspond to reality. However, one of them decides to go outside to check if this is the case.
The Underworld perfume, which accompanies and completes the photographic series, is an olfactory interpretation of the cave, evoking its cold and humid atmosphere, but not only that!
Sharing this olfactory and visual story and witnessing the incredible reactions of the eclectic audience who came to see it was an unforgettable experience.
