A 17th-century painting inspire a perfume workshop

I was invited by the Nîmes Museum of Fine Arts (France) to conduct a perfume creation workshop as part of the exhibition "Drapés, une histoire d'illusion(s)", which can be seen and smelled until November 16, 2025.

This workshop, intended for teenagers and adults, consisted of each participant creating their own perfume inspired by the work The Arrest of Saint John the Baptist by the painter Reynaud Levieux ( 1613-1699), which is part of the exhibition.

The work, which is the inspiration of the workshop, was presented to the group by the Museum's mediator.

Then we went to the workshop room where each participant had at her disposal an image of the work, ten olfactory ingredients, a formulation sheet and all the material necessary for creating.

We smelt together all the materials made available to them.

Then it was time for composing the first, second, then the third trial.

At the end of the workshop, each participant chose her favorite trial and went home with a 15ml spray bottle of her own creation that I weighed with my precision scale.

The next workshop, intended for children, will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Reserve your place now with the museum!
