The Beaucaire Fair inspires two perfume workshops
This summer I had the pleasure of conducting, at the Beaucaire Terre d'Argence Tourist Office , two perfume workshops inspired by the Beaucaire International Fair, a significant historical event in this area.
Founded in 1217, this fair, which took place every year in July, became the largest in Europe with more than 100,000 visitors per day.
From my perfume organ, I chose ten materials that would evoke the goods from Europe, the Middle East and the Americas for sale during the Fair.
The day of the first workshop arrived. I prepared the room with all the necessary equipment.
To ensure that each participant was properly informed of the context, the Beaucaire Fair was presented by the mediator from the Beaucaire Terre d'Argence Tourist Office.
I presented the ten ingredients chosen for the workshop one by one, specifying for each one the connection with the Fair. I distributed a smelling strip to each participant. I allowed a moment so that the participant could express their feelings and note them on their formulation sheet.
Once the ten ingredients had been evaluated, it was time to compose the formula. I visited each group to guide them and answer their questions and doubts.
Once the first formula was noted on the formulation sheet, it was time to start counting the 50 drops that made it up in a small bottle using the dropper bottles placed in front of each group.
I smelt the trial with each group, asked them what they thought, and advised them on modifications to make for the second and third trials.
Once the weighings were completed, each participant indicated their preferred trial so that I could weigh their creation with my precision scale in a 15ml bottle that they would take home as a souvenir of the workshop.
An experience that was repeated a month later with another group.
Two wonderful moments of sharing during which I had the pleasure of introducing my profession as a perfumer.
